A. God Doesn’t Tempt
James 1:12-14 (NKJV) 12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
B. All are tempted—nothing new
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
C. Also a way out
1 Corinthians 10:14 (NKJV) Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
D. Not Alone—indwelling of Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
E. Resist
James 4:7 (NKJV) Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
F. Armor of God
Ephesians 6:10-11;16 (NKJV) 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [a]wiles of the devil.
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

III. IDENTIFY WITH THE SUFFERING OF OTHERS---v.3 Galatians 6:2

IV. MARRIAGE IS HONORABLE---v.4
Genesis 2:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be [a] joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
V. COVETOUSNESS---v.5 I Timothy 3:3
1 Timothy 6:10 (NKJV) 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
VI. BE CONTENT---v.6
Philippians 4:10-19 (NKJV) 10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to [b]be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 14 Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress. 15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. 16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. 18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Psalm 27:1 (NKJV) The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 118:6 (NKJV) 6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

TWO MOUNTAINS 7-22-18
Hebrews 12:18-29
I. Mount Sinai Hebrews 12:18-22, Exodus 19:16
Deuteronomy 4:11-13
A. The Israelites thought it was terrifying. Verse 12:20 is quoted from Deuteronomy 5:23-24
Deuteronomy 5:23-24 (NKJV) 23 “So it was, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders. 24 And you said: ‘Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives.”
Exodus 19:12-13 (NKJV) 12 You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, ‘Take heed to yourselves that you do not go up to the mountain or touch its base. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death. 13 Not a hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot with an arrow; whether man or beast, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come near the mountain.”
Exodus 19:19 (NKJV) 19 And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice.
B. Even Moses was terrified: Verse 12:20 was quoted from Deuteronomy 9:19
Deuteronomy 9:19 (NKJV) 19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the Lordwas angry with you, to destroy you. But the Lord listened to me at that time also.
II. Mount Zion Hebrews 12:23-29
Galatians 3:10-12 (NKJV) 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 But that no one is [a]justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”
A. Zion Isaiah 46:13
Psalm 132:13-14 (NKJV) 13 For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His [a]dwelling place:
14 “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
Zechariah 2:10 (NKJV) 10 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord.
B. Heavenly City Revelation 21:1-22:5
Revelation 21:1 -2; 10 (NKJV) Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, [a]John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the [a]great city, the [b]holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
III. Warnings Hebrews 12:25
A. Verse 27 is a quote from Haggai 2:6
Haggai 2:6 (NKJV) 6 “For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land;
2 Peter 3:10-13 (NKJV) 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be [a]burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

CENTER ON THE GOOD NEWS 7-8-18
BARNABAS BROUGHT PAUL Philippians 4:1-7
Acts 11:22-26 (NKJV) 22 Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. 23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. 24 For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord. 25 Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. 26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
ETERNAL RETRIBUTION
Matthew 3:10-12 (NKJV) 10 And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit [a]and fire. 12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
YOU CAN KNOW
1 John 5:13 (NKJV) 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, [a]and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

C. 7 Reasons why Christians suffer
1. Because of our stupidity

2. Taking a stand for the Truth and Righteousness

IS YOUR FAITH GENUINE? 5-6-18
I. ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVE EXERCISED FAITH IN GOD?
A. It is by faith that we are saved. Acts 16.31
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
B. Christ dwells in our hearts by faith
Ephesians 3:17 (NKJV) 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
C. The Life of the believer is a life of faith
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV) 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
II. WE OVERCOME THE WORLD BY FAITH
1 John 5:4 (NKJV) 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our [a] faith.
A. By faith we stand in the hour of testing II Corinthians 1:24
Romans 11:20 (NKJV) 20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear.
B. We walk by faith
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight
C. The Just shall live by taith Hebrews 10:38
Romans 1:17 (NKJV) 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
D. We resist the devil by faith
1 Peter 5:8-9 (NKJV) 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because [a] your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
E. By faith we have access to God-yes into the very holiest Hebrews 10:19,20
Ephesians 3:12 (NKJV) 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.
F. By faith we fight the good fight
1 Timothy 6:12 (NKJV) 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
G. By faith we run the race
Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV) Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
III. WHATSOEVER IS NOT OF FAITH IS SIN
Romans 14:23 (NKJV) 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.
